Notice regarding changes to interpreter rules adopted by the Nebraska Supreme Court
In September 2009, the Nebraska Supreme Court adopted changes to their interpreter rules, which may be found on their website.
One of the new rules limits Spanish and sign interpretation to certified and registered interpreters. According to § 6-703(C), “. . . in proceedings in which a Spanish interpreter is utilized, only a certified or registered interpreter shall be allowed.”
